Normally I'd reserve this blog for doing online reviews of technology, but as this is an interesting subject to me I figured I could review it here.

Enter MegaUpload
MegaUpload was a website that allowed you to upload any file to their servers for free and allow any of your friends (or anyone else for that matter) to download them. This was particularly useful for people who had files that were too large to send via e-mail or other forms of traditional FTP. Plus, did I mention it was free.

Well, on Thursday, January 19, 2012, the US government figured it was too dangerous to be kept online. I admit, Megaupload was known for hosting some pirated information - but that wasn't the main purpose of the website. Not only did the US Government send in the FBI to deal with it, they did it the day after the online SOPA protests probably mostly to prove that they don't need SOPA to stop any website they want.

The CEO of Megaupload had reportedly said that this won't stop them and they will continue to operate in other countries (it is a China based website), but for now in North America, it is shut down. This is a major bummer for people like me, who pay for membership.

Thanks America.

Barely There Brushed Aluminum BlackBerry Case review

The
Case Mate Brushed Aluminum Case BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930
This is a very nice, slick-looking case by Case Mate. It is designed to fit the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 and is a very nice designer case. This case has a Brushed Aluminum back with the Case Mate logo on it and hard plastic sidings complete with access to all the ports.

The Case Mate Brushed Aluminum case is not designed to protect your Bold 9900 or 9930 from any serious disaster, as mentioned in the above video, it is more designed to show off the look and add some style to your BlackBerry.

Pros
For me, I love the design of the case, I have always liked Case Mate and their Barely There line is really what it says, "Barely There". The gorgeous backing is definitely a plus, it is lightweight, and it has access to all the ports.

Cons
The top and bottom of the BlackBerry is uncovered and the sides near the keyboard stick up a little bit. This wasn't enough to thwart me, though! I am fairly careful with my BlackBerry in any case.

Recommended Audience
This case is not for people who want super-protection for their BlackBerry, they would be better off looking at otterbox for that purpose. This case is catered towards people who want to 'fancy' up their BlackBerry a little bit and add some style. I recommend this case for people who take care of their BlackBerrys (I.E. never drop them and always baby them, like me) and want to jazz it up a little bit and show off!

Sennheiser CX300-II

Enter the Sennheiser CX300-II.
This is a very nice piece from German manufacturer Sennheiser, it is a comfortable and sturdy closed-back pair of headphones.

The Sennheiser CX300-II boasts rich bass-driven sound by Sennheiser, which you can not only hear - but also feel. The frequency response is stated as being 15 Hz to 21 kHz and the sensitivity is 113 dB. So that means that it can deliver a wide range of sounds at a pretty high volume.

This pair of headphones really is bass-driven, having a high response in low-bass and a relatively low response in treble; this doesn't mean it has bad treble, though, it just has very deep, rich, bass.
Frequency Response Chart from sennheiser.com

After listening to these headphones for roughly 2.5 hours, using a variety of equalizers, genres, and volumes, I have found that using a bass-boosting equalizer is the best choice of action for these headphones. Although this is still personal preference, the bass really starts kicking when you start picking it up.

While not noise-canceling, it does have the capability of blocking out much of the noise. This is due to the closed-back style and the tight, in-ear, fit using very soft, and comfortable, silicone rubber tips. The rubber tips come in three sizes.

Recommended Audience
These headphones would be best for people who like good, solid, bass that doesn't blow your head off; don't mind a closed headphone style; and prefer a tight-fitting earbud that goes into the ear canal.
